My 3rd painting. Second if you don't count marshes which had quite a bit of 3D in it.

I'm quite happy with the result. I watched Constantine recently which I really loved, so that probably contributed to the idea.
I guess it doesn't leave all that much room for interpretation but I'm always interested to hear any stories that come to your mind when you look at it. :)

All done freehand in photoshop in around 13 hours or so. Didn't use any reference.. probably should have but I'm lazy :P

Thanks to ¢adonihs for crit along the way, always a big help

I hope you enjoy!

like adonihs said, it's amazing how fast you are improving... Got nothing else to add to what he said... Maybe just a bit more detailed sky, because I love detailed clouds :P On the other hand, it would take some of the attention away from the focal point.
Awsome work! The lighting absolutly rocks! It gives it a great atmosphere. I really like the balance of the overall composition too.

Nice one! :boogie:
This is very beautiful, Simon! You should do this kind of thing more often. My only crit is the position of the shoulders, they seem to be upper than they should be. But the rest is gorgeous. I love the lighting effects you pulled of, especially the one coming from the ground. Makes me thing of a Phoenix being reborn.
