The Womp is a slow moving docile herbivore usually found in packs of fifteen to twenty animals. The Womp has some unknown physical property which greatly lowers the effect of gravity on itself causing it to float much like a slightly weighted helium balloon. It's long front legs are used to keep it aloft and can be extended or contracted to change it's altitude.
In addition to floating, one of the Womp's defining features is it's subsonic blast emitted from the multiple powerful diaphragms located on the sides and belly of it's body. Among other uses, the shock wave from this sound is the Womp's main defence against predators. At close range the blast can render most medium size creatures unconscious. In a pack the combined effects make the Womps almost impervious to attack.

This was done for a creature concept challenge on ConceptArt.org.. a sound effect was provided, and you had to design a creature from the sound.
Also trying something light, to break my habit of making everything dark ;]
What's this, do my eyes deceive me? Could it possibly something bright, and dare I say cheery?
I rather enjoy the technique you used - I have no idea what said technique would even be called, but I like that there is a flatness to the painting all while there is much depth and texture. Does that make sense? For example, I can almost sense how the womp would feel to the touch, but the texture isn't completely over exaggerated. That probably doesn't make any more sense, but fuck it
What I find interesting are the tiny details you added that employ such character and whimsy; such as the purple petals falling off the branch that the womp ripped off the tree, and the almost realistic leaves you placed on the bottom left corner that are paired with the figment of a tree, and the two daisies that seem to be dancing with each other. It's all wonderful and very appeasing to the eye.
I like the fact that you added a character description as well. Opinions would obviously be formed with or without the character details, but I like knowing the back story
